Japan's Keikyu railway links up to promote oneworld

27 Juillet 2011

Keikyu Corporation, one of Japan's major private railway companies, and oneworld®, the premier quality airline alliance, are jointly organising the "oneworld Festival" in Tokyo from 1 August to 30 October 2011.

Six oneworld members - American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Japan Airlines and Qantas Airways - operate flights serving Tokyo Narita International Airport,

The three-month long festival will include:

  • A stamp rally that runs through nine of the busiest train stations in Tokyo, including Shinagawa and Haneda Airport on the Keikyu line until 4 September 4.
  • Quizzes at stations, where participants can learn about aircraft and trains.
  • A special draw to win tickets to New York on American Airlines, to London on British Airways, to Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific, to Helsinki on Finnair, to Sydney on Qantas or to Honolulu on Japan Airlines, with other attractive prizes as well as original giveaways.
  • Exhibitions with information of Keikyu, oneworld and its existing 12 member airlines, to be held at the Keikyu Group hotels Shinagawa GOOS and Hotel Grand Pacific Le Daiba, with the latter featuring a nostalgic display of more than 50 historical images of the companies.

oneworld will grow to a membership of 15 airlines by the end of 2012 when current members-elect airberlin, Kingfisher Airlines and Malaysia Airlines officially join as full-fledged members.

Throughout the festival, Keikyu will operate a train, specially decorated in a oneworld design, on its services that runs through Tokyo city and both Narita and Haneda airports.  The oneworld train design will display the tailfins of every member airline externally with images of the alliance inside the train.
