Global Explorer offers more round-the-world destinations with networks of recruits Japan Airlines and Malév added

04 juin 2006

oneworldTM has opened up even more of the world to travellers planning round-the-world trips with two of its recruits joining its Global Explorer fare before they board the alliance. Global Explorer enables travel on all the alliance's existing eight carriers and their 12 affiliates plus selected other airlines.

Latest additions are Japan Airlines (JAL) and Malév, both of which will offer oneworld's full range of services and benefits early next year when they become members, expanding its network substantially in Japan and Central and East Europe.

They add another 70 destinations to the network covered by Global Explorer, so it now extends to almost 700 destinations in approaching 150 countries in Africa, Asia, the South Pacific, North and South America, Europe… And oneworld is the only alliance offering a full network inside Australia.

Travellers can fly with any oneworld airline, which include some of the biggest and best in the industry, all renowned for the quality of their customer service - Aer Lingus, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, LAN and Qantas and their 12 affiliates. With Global Explorer, they can also travel on Air Pacific, Gulf Air and now Japan Airlines and Malév.

Global Explorer is one of two round-the-world fares offered by oneworld.

For Japan Airlines, Global Explorer is the only round-the-world fare it offers. Besides the mainline airline, its subsidiaries JALways and Japan Asia Airways are also participating in the fare at this stage.

Global Explorer offers simple, flexible, and great value round-the-world travel for trips up to one year long. Four versions are available. For details, see below.:

oneworld's other round-the-world fare is oneworld Explorer. This includes travel only on the alliances eight existing member airlines and their 12 affiliates. Uniquely, prices are based on the number of continents visited, rather than on the distance flown.

oneworld offers more alliance fares than any of its competitors. For those who don't want to fly all around the world, these include Visit passes for each continent or Circle fares.

JAL, along with five other members of the JAL group which will join oneworld alongside it as affiliates - JALways, Japan Asia Airways, JAL Express, J-Air and Japan Transocean Air– together with Malév and Royal Jordanian will participate in all oneworld fare products when they join the alliance early next year.
